The Classy footer layout replaces the fourth column menu with a recent posts block. This keeps your footer dynamic. It updates automatically as you publish new content. Three display sub-styles are available.

Enabling Footer Recent Posts

Footer recent posts are only available on the Classy footer layout. To use them:

Footer Layout panel showing style dropdown, recent posts style, number of posts, custom logo, logo width, social links toggle, Footer Bio and column title fields
  1. Go to Customize → Layouts → Footer Layout.
  2. Select Classy.
  3. The fourth column will now show your most recent posts automatically.

Choosing a Recent Posts Sub-Style

  1. Go to Customize → Layouts → Footer Layout.
  2. Find Recent Posts Style.
  3. Select one of the three options.

Default

Shows a small thumbnail alongside the post title and date. A compact presentation that fits several posts in the column without overwhelming the footer.

Detailed

Shows a larger thumbnail with the post title, date, and a short excerpt. More content-forward. Better for sites where the footer serves as a secondary discovery surface for new readers.

Simple

Post titles only, no thumbnails. The leanest option. Suitable for sites that want recent posts visible but do not want images adding visual weight to the footer.

How Many Posts Are Shown

The number of recent posts displayed is configurable from Customize → Layouts → Footer Layout → Number of Posts. Set it to whatever fits your column width and footer height.

Column Title

The heading above the recent posts column is set under Customize → Layouts → Footer Layout → Footer Column 4 Title. Default value is “Recent Posts” – change it to anything that suits your site.

The Classy layout also includes the standard footer bio and logo column on the left, so you get both branding and dynamic content in one footer.
