Aurora includes 3 search results layouts. Each provides a different banner style above the results. The post list below uses your active archive layout, keeping the design consistent across your site.

How to Switch

  1. Go to Appearance → Customize.
  2. Open Layouts → Search Results Page.
  3. Click Search Results Layout.
  4. Select a layout from the dropdown.
  5. Click Publish when satisfied.

The 3 Search Results Layouts

See the full search results layouts comparison for screenshots and details on each design.

Default

A banner with the title centered and a compact rounded search input centered below it.

Bold

A banner with a centered title, subtitle, and a wider search form with a separate Search button that overlaps the banner and page.

Cover

A banner with the title left-aligned and the search input left-aligned directly below it.

Search Results Content

Below the banner, Aurora displays matching posts using your active archive layout. Switching your archive layout also changes how search results appear. They share the same template.

Aurora’s search respects standard WordPress search behavior. It searches post titles and content by default. See How Aurora’s Search Works for details and snippets to extend it. If you have installed a search enhancement plugin, that will apply to Aurora’s search results automatically.

Result Count

All 3 layouts display a result count above the posts, for example “Found 5 results for aurora.” This is generated by Aurora’s aurora_search_count() function and cannot be disabled from the Customizer, but can be hidden via CSS if needed.

Search Page Settings

The banner background color and search form placeholder text are configurable under Layouts → Search Results Page. Pagination style, sidebar visibility, and posts per page on search results are all controlled under archive settings, which are the same settings that apply to category and tag archives.
