Nova adds override controls to each WordPress user profile. This lets you give a specific author a different layout, archive style, or post count without changing the global Customizer settings.

Requirements

The Nova plugin must be installed and active. See Introduction to Nova for details.

How to Set a Per-Author Override

  1. Go to Users → All Users in WP Admin.
  2. Click Edit on the user you want to override.
  3. Scroll down to the Nova Layout Overrides section.
  4. Set your overrides using the dropdowns and fields.
  5. Click Update User.

The indicator dot next to the Nova Overrides heading shows whether any override is active on this user. A green dot means at least one setting is overriding the global default.

Available Overrides

Setting What it controls
Author layout The author page layout used when visitors browse this author’s profile page
Archive template The archive layout used when displaying this author’s posts
Masonry Enable or disable masonry on this author’s post archive regardless of the global setting
Posts per page How many posts appear per page or load on this author’s archive
Sidebar Show or hide the sidebar on this author’s archive
Load more style Pagination or Load More button for this author’s archive only

Clearing an Override

To remove an override and return a setting to the global default, set the dropdown back to Global default and click Update User. The setting will inherit from the Customizer again.
