Aurora’s Customizer uses WordPress’s standard save flow. Every change you make is previewed live in the panel on the right, but nothing is visible to your visitors until you explicitly publish it.

How to Save Changes

  1. Go to Appearance → Customize.
  2. Make your changes. The live preview updates as you go.
  3. Click the Publish button at the top of the Customizer panel.

Once published, your changes are immediately live for all visitors.

Saving as a Draft

If you are not ready to publish, click the arrow next to the Publish button and select Save Draft. Your changes are stored but not applied to the live site. You can return to the Customizer at any time to continue editing or publish the draft.

Scheduling Changes

WordPress also allows you to schedule Customizer changes to go live at a specific date and time. Click the arrow next to Publish and select Schedule, then set the date and time you want the changes to take effect.

Discarding Changes

To discard unpublished changes, simply close the Customizer without clicking Publish. Any unsaved changes will be lost and the live site will remain unchanged.

If you have saved a draft and want to discard it, open the Customizer, click the arrow next to Publish, and select Discard changes.

Live Preview vs. Published

The preview panel in the Customizer shows exactly what your site will look like once published. Visitors cannot see the preview. They only see what has been published. This makes it safe to experiment with layouts, colors, and fonts without affecting your live site until you are ready.
